Tom and vinicius

:Activity 1: The mascots for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are Vinicius and Tom. They can be found on all of the advertisements for the Olympic Games and they have also been featured in a number of videos.

Episode 3:
They find a bird house and thought they could live in it
but it was two small and then they found some wood and made two houses in a tree for them but when they slept in them they couldn't sleep so they got up and walked outside and 1 slept on the tree and 1 slept on the lily pad

Activity 2: Rio de Janeiro, the host of Olympic Games this year, is a huge, vibrant and dynamic city. Perhaps the most famous landmark in the city is a large statue of Jesus called ‘Christ the Redeemer’ that sits on top of a hill overlooking Rio. Here is a picture of the statue:

New Zealand is also known for many famous landmarks, including the SkyTower and the Harbour Bridge. In your blog list 3 famous landmarks in New Zealand. Along with the name of each landmark provide a brief description of it. Where is the landmark located? In your opinion, why is it famous?

The Sky Tower, One Tree Hill and the Beehive in
Wellington.

About the sky tower: The upper portion of the tower contains two restaurants and a cafe—including New Zealand's only revolving restaurant, located 190 m (620 ft) from the ground, which turns 360 degrees every hour. There is also a brasserie-style buffet located one floor above the main observatory level. It has three observation decks at different heights, each providing 360-degree views of the city. The main observation level at 186 m (610 ft) has 38 mm (1.5 in) thick glass sections of flooring giving a view straight to the ground. The top observation deck labeled "Skydeck" sits just below the main antenna at 220 m (720 ft) and gives views of up to 82 km (51 mi) in the distance.
The tower also features the "SkyJump", a 192-metre (630 ft) jump from the observation deck, during which a jumper can reach up to 85 km/h (53 mph). The jump is guide-cable-controlled to prevent jumpers from colliding with the tower in case of wind gusts Climbs into the antenna mast portion (300 m or 980 ft heights) are also possible for tour group as is a walk around the exterior
About one tree hill:
Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill is a 182-metre (597 ft) volcanic peak in auckland New zealand  It is an important memorial place for both Maori  and other New Zealanders. The suburb around the base of the hill is also called One Tree Hill. It is surrounded by the suburbs of royal oak to the west, and clockwise,Epsom,Greenlane, oranga, and onehunga. The summit provides views across the Auckland area, and allows visitors to see both of Auckland's harbours.
The hill's scoria cones were erupted from three craters – one is intact and two have been breached by lava flows that rafted away part of the side of the scoria cone. Lava flows went in all directions, many towards Onehunga, covering an area of 20 square kilometres (7.7 sq mi), making it the second largest (in area covered) of the auckland volcanic field behind Rangitoto. The age of eruption is currently unknown, but it is older than 28,500 years as it has a mantling of volcanic ash erupted at that time from te  tatua-a-riukiuta volcano.
 About the beehive:
The building is ten storeys (72 m) high and has four floors below ground. The entrance foyer's core is decorated with marble floors, stainless steel mesh wall panels, and a translucent glass ceiling
The Beehive's brown roof is constructed from 20 tonnes of hand-welted and seamed copper It has developed a naturally weathered appearance. A tunnel leads from the building under Bowen Street, linking the Beehive with parliamentary offices in Bowen House. The Beehive is extensively decorated with New Zealand art. On the inner wall of the Banquet Hall is a large notable mural by John Drawbridge portraying the atmosphere and sky of New Zealand.
The Beehive's circular footprint  is generally considered an elegant and distinctive design feature. However it is also quite impractical, as many of its rooms are wedge-shaped, curved or asymmetrical. An extension has been built out the front to allow for a new security entrance. A new, bomb-proof mail delivery room has already been built at the rear of the building.

My opinion:
i think they are famous cause they are some of the most advanced buildings ever
i love them myself they are so cool

  1. Hi Anahere! It is so great to see that you have already completed two activities that are part of the Winter Learning Journey programme. Ka pai!

I am amazed that you were able to find so much information about the three landmarks that you chose - One Tree Hill, the Beehive and the Sky Tower. I have been to the Sky Tower and to One Tree Hill but I have never been to the Beehive. Have you ever been to the Beehive?

I think that it would be very interesting to go to Wellington to visit the Beehive and learn all about what the government workers (employees) do on a daily basis. I am pretty sure that we could also learn about the building itself, how it was built and why the architect decided to make it such an unusual shape!

I hope that you will continue to post such interesting blogs over the next two weeks. I'm really looking forward to learning more from your posts and to sharing this learning with others!

Keep up the great work :)

    Rachel
