qualifications and 2nd place in women's shot put final. she is an amazing athlete and we are proud that she is a NZ Athlete

Fun facts about valerie adams:
1.She won her first World Youth Championship gold medal at age 17.
2.She is also a three-time World Championship gold medalist and two-time World Indoor Championships gold medalist.
3.Rio will be Valerie's fourth Olympic Games having won gold in the shot put at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 and finishing seventh in her debut at Athens 2004
4.Valerie has been the dominant women's shot putter in the world since 2006, only beaten twice in major world events during that period and having an unprecedented winning streak of 56 competitions between 2010 and 2014. She was the IAAF world female athlete of the year for 2014.
5.Valerie is on the comeback after shoulder and elbow surgery in 2014. She finished third at the recent World Indoor Championships.
